Tanzwolke

Tanzwolke has been a centre for swing dancing and partner dance in Zürich since 2011. The studio is located at Hallwylstrasse 26, just three minutes' walk from Stauffacher, in a basement space accessed through a passageway between Simply Soup restaurant and a hairdresser.

The studio itself is about 100 square metres with a brand new sprung wooden floor, large mirror front with curtains, sound system, and a comfortable lounge corner with drinks and snacks. It's built for the styles Tanzwolke teaches: Lindy Hop at three levels (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3), Balboa, Solo Jazz and Charleston, and Oriental Dance at two levels (beginner and advanced technique).

The teaching team is experienced across multiple dance traditions. Romea Bausch, owner and teacher, started dancing at age 9, trained as an Oriental dancer and teacher in her early twenties, then discovered partner and swing dancing. She holds a diploma in Choreography, led a successful show group for several years, and studied Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis for four years in Berlin, which shapes how she builds her class content. She is also trained in Authentic Communication and Somatic Experiencing. David Knoll, co-owner and teacher, began with Argentine Tango before discovering Lindy Hop, and has added Charleston, Solo Jazz, Balboa, Blues, West Coast Swing and Zouk to his teaching. He creates training playlists for students. Other regular teachers include Céline Neubig (Levels 1–3), Birgitta Palm (who emphasizes balanced support for both leaders and followers), Mahele Bamert, and Pascal Willi.

The regular weekly schedule runs Monday to Wednesday. Mondays offer Pilates for Dancers with Birgitta at 18:45–19:45 and Lindy Dynamics with David and Birgitta at 20:00–21:15. Tuesdays feature Lindy Hop Level 1 (18:45–20:00), Level 2 (20:00–21:15), and Level 3 (21:00–22:15), all taught by David and Birgitta. Wednesdays have Oriental Dance with Anna at 19:00–20:30 and Oriental Dance Advanced Technique with Anna at 20:30–21:45. New Lindy Hop beginner groups start monthly. Tanzwolke is part of a growing regional community of teachers, dancers and performers. They offer gift vouchers for friends and family, and the studio can be rented for classes, workshops or practice at rates between 15–45 Swiss francs per hour depending on time, duration and purpose.

You'll find the studio in a basement space behind a red door, down a passageway in the courtyard. Classes are taught in English and German. Expect to sweat—bring a change of clothes. Romea Bausch (owner, Laban Movement Analyst, Oriental and swing dance specialist) and David Knoll (owner, Lindy Hop and swing specialist) lead the team. Teachers include Céline Neubig, Birgitta Palm (known for supporting both leaders and followers equally), Mahele Bamert, and Pascal Willi. All have deep experience in their dance forms.

New beginner Lindy Hop groups start every month; the studio explicitly welcomes new students and offers a form-based registration process with 24-hour personal confirmation.
