About this studio
Latin Dance Jax opened in September 2022 inside Monarch Ballroom and Dance Studio. The studio's mission is building the Latin Dance community in Jacksonville by teaching social Latin dances—Salsa, Bachata, Casino Salsa, Rueda, Kizomba and Zouk—at affordable group prices. The focus is on creating what the studio calls The Dance Family: a global community where people communicate through dance, meet new friends, and gain a personal outlet for expression and fitness.
Group classes run Monday to Friday and cover Salsa On-1, Bachata, and Casino Salsa/Rueda. The studio also offers special Saturday workshops including Musicality classes, Advanced Salsa, Traditional Kizomba, Urban Kiz, and specialty workshops. All group classes are led by the studio's team of experienced instructors: Alex Gonzalez, Lauren Folk, Juan Carlos Pacheco, Kathleen Ehlrich, Ashley Kuhn, and Osmar Dawson.
Private lessons are available Monday through Saturday by appointment and can be tailored to any dance style—Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and more. These are ideal for wedding preparation, technique refinement, or one-to-one guidance. The studio also offers private group classes perfect for gatherings or celebrations, and can bring instructors to corporate functions, weddings, and special events.
Dance parties and socials are central to the experience. Latin Dance Jax hosts a Latin Dance party on the first Saturday of each month, a KiZoukChata Mini Social on the third Thursday of the month (90% Bachata, Kizomba, and Zouk with a splash of Salsa), and monthly outdoor dancing at Memorial Park by the river on Sundays. These socials are designed as practice ground for what students learn in class and as a way to build community. The studio celebrated its 3-Year Anniversary in October–November 2025 with a full weekend of events including a Halloween Costume party, five daytime workshops with guest international instructors, an Elegance Social, and an outdoor park fiesta.
