About this studio

Learn to Dance teaches Social Ballroom and Latin dancing to adults across four ongoing classes. Miriam Blackman, who has over 25 years of experience in Ballroom and Latin social dancing, runs the school with a team of assistants who support students with or without partners.

Classes run at two locations on different evenings. Beginner's and Improver's classes meet Monday evenings at Onehunga Community House. Each week you learn one Ballroom and one Latin dance for 5 or 6 weeks, then move to two different dances, so you build a broad foundation across the styles. Intermediate and Advanced classes are on Tuesday evenings at Greenlane Presbyterian Church. All classes are ongoing except public holidays, so you can join at any time.

The dances taught include Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba and Rock n Roll in the regular classes. New Vogue and Line dances are also available in private lessons by request.

Miriam creates a warm and positive environment. She is described by students as patient, well respected and liked. Couples and singles are equally welcome; you do not need a partner to join. Private lessons are available for weddings, catch-up, or personal improvement by arrangement with Miriam.
