About this studio
Lindy Spot is a swing dance association based in Schiltigheim near Strasbourg, teaching Lindy Hop, Balboa, Solo Jazz Roots, Solo Charleston, Solo Blues, and Collegiate Shag. The organisation has been running for 14 years with a mission to make swing dance accessible at low cost to everyone.
Weekly classes run across multiple venues in the Strasbourg area — Espace le 23, Salle Saint Joseph, Maison du Mouvement, Foyer culturel et sportif Saint Arbogast, and Centre chorégraphique de Strasbourg — plus a partnership with CSC du Fossé des 13. Classes are levelled from beginner to advanced, with auditions held for intermediate and advanced Lindy Hop courses to homogenise groups. The association also runs "Melting Swing" sessions: six-week themed courses in Solo Jazz Roots, Lindy Hop choreography, Lindy Hop Switch (learning both leader and follower roles), Solo Blues, and Collegiate Shag.
Beyond weekly classes, Lindy Spot organises social dances and festivals. The annual "The Blues Spot" runs for three days with blues dance initiations, workshops (including harmonica), live orchestras, shows, and friendly competitions. The association also runs "Jazzala", "Christmas Swing", "Holy Lollies", and regular swing evenings and practice sessions. Open houses with initiations and swing balls are held each season.
You can choose to learn as a leader or follower regardless of gender, and can take multiple courses at different levels. Classes offer trial access in September where places remain. Membership is required to enrol in weekly classes, Melting Swing sessions, or the activities pass. Payment plans are available in instalments over three months.
