About this studio
Mahler Ballroom is a 3,500 square foot historic ballroom in St. Louis's Central West End, built in 1907 on Washington Boulevard. The venue was founded as a dance academy by Albert Mahler in 1860, and expanded by his son Jacob Mahler, who commissioned architect William Levy to design the current building. After Jacob Mahler's death in 1928, the ballroom became a landmark hosting government dignitaries, state functions, live theatre and film productions. In 2018, the venue was acquired by Miss Karen and underwent restoration to its Victorian elegance while adding contemporary amenities.
The ballroom features 24-foot-high ceilings, a wrap-around balcony with rococo-style mouldings, modern furnishings, artwork by Christopher Guy, and chandeliers by designer Michael Amini. A bar with a cascading waterfall feature provides refreshment. The space includes access to a large wrap-around mezzanine with cocktail-style seating and a beautiful outdoor patio. Couple's suites are available as a home base for wedding parties.
Mahler Ballroom hosts weddings, receptions, ceremonies, anniversary parties, birthday parties, corporate events, church services, fashion shows, proms and charity benefits. Wedding pricing ranges from $1,750 for a ceremony only (Sunday–Thursday) to $6,500 for a combined ceremony and reception on Saturday, with 5–6 hours of event time included. Standard event rentals run $2,500 (Sunday), $3,500 (Tuesday–Friday) or $4,500 (Saturday) for 4 hours, with daytime corporate pricing available by inquiry. All rentals include tables and chairs. Additional time can be added for an extra fee, and setup and breakdown time is provided.

Studio history
Founded in 1860 as a dance academy by European immigrant Albert Mahler, the business expanded under his son Jacob Mahler, who commissioned architect William Levy to design the current 16,000 square foot building in 1907 at a cost of $55,000. Jacob Mahler hosted fortnightly evening dances and became a pillar of St. Louis culture until his death in 1928. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch noted that the Mahler Ballroom occupied a unique and extraordinary place in the community. After decades of hosting government functions, theatre and film productions, the venue was acquired and restored by Miss Karen in 2018.
