Masacote Entertainment

Masacote Entertainment is a Latin dance and music school based at the Cambridge Athletic Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The studio offers structured progression in Salsa On2, with classes ranging from Foundations through Intermediate to Advanced Training, plus private lessons covering Salsa On2, Salsa On1, Bachata, Cha Cha, and Music Percussion.

Classes run on a monthly session format, starting on the first Tuesday or Thursday of each month. On Tuesdays, the studio offers back-to-back classes: Foundations (7:30pm–8:30pm) followed by Foundations Partnering (8:30pm–9:30pm), alongside Intermediate Footwork & Shines and Intermediate Partnering at the same times. The studio emphasises building a strong foundation in footwork, connection, and lead-and-follow technique before progressing to more complex material. Each class focuses on movement vocabulary, musical interpretation, and personal expression, taught "with clarity, patience and humor."

For advanced dancers, Masacote offers a 2-hour intensive training session on Wednesday nights (7:30pm–9:30pm) led by Aaron, Serena and G. This invitation-only class is designed for dancers with Stage 2 proficiency and above, combining spin drills, body isolations, Afro-Cuban movement, strength conditioning, footwork routines, musicality, and sections of Masacote's legacy choreographies. The training mirrors what professional Masacote dancers receive before performing.

Private lessons are available for individuals, pairs, or groups, with single lessons at $95 and package options ranging from $260 to $1,000 depending on group size. The studio also runs Afro-Cuban workshops and retreats—including an August 2027 retreat—and books the Masacote Dance Company for performances and after-parties.

Classes take place in the Cambridge Athletic Club's upstairs Main Room. The studio is located near MIT, a 10-minute walk from either the Kendall Square Red Line or Lechmere Green Line T stations, with on-street metered parking and validated parking available at the 50/60 Binney Street garage (5pm–11pm weekdays) via Linskey Way entrance.

Drop in or sign up for a monthly session; classes run Tuesday or Thursday evenings. Expect to learn footwork, connection, and partnering technique in a structured progression, with the coach breaking down vocabulary and movements. Dress in comfortable clothing—sweatpants, leggings, skirts, or wraps—and wear whatever shoes feel best (or none at all).

Aaron Damus is the founding instructor and former principal dancer with Masacote, with over 20 years of teaching and dancing experience and formal music training. The Advanced Training session is also led by Serena and Coach G, who teach other classes throughout the week.

Foundations classes are designed for dancers new to On2, those coming from On1, or anyone wanting to refresh basics.
