About this studio
Montoya Dance Company, formerly Elegant Rumba Dance Company, is Southwest Florida's premier Latin dance school. Led by owner and artistic director Giana Montoya, an international salsa star and judge, the studio brings over 25 years of experience in dance instruction and performance.
The studio teaches Salsa at beginner and intermediate levels on Monday nights, and Bachata at all levels on Thursday nights. Both classes follow a full structure: warm-up, footwork breakdown, body mechanics instruction, and partner patterns you can practise at their social dances. They also offer Latin Body Movement and Latin Technique classes designed to build confidence in how you move and look while dancing. Burlesque by Giana Montoya is available as group workshops several times a year for women's groups, retreats, bachelorette parties, and girls' nights.
The studio runs dedicated youth programmes: Salsa Kidz for ages 5–12 and Salsa Teens for ages 13–17, both running four-month seasons that culminate in big showcases (Summer Showcase and Winter Extravaganza). Adult performance teams run twice a year alongside the youth programmes, giving committed dancers the chance to perform on stage.
Private lessons and custom choreography are core offerings. Wedding choreography services include custom first dances, parent dances, and surprise performances tailored to your comfort level and timeline. They also serve quinceañeras, father-daughter dances, and special events. Intensive training programmes are available, typically running 10–20 hours over 5–7 days, tailored to individual specifications. The studio has an in-house dance shoe boutique by GFranco Dance Shoes.
Classes run in month-long sessions starting the first of each month; students are encouraged to join in the first or second week. Most group classes use a rotating partner system so solo dancers can dance with different partners each class. Spanish is spoken at the studio.

Your first visit
Your first class includes a full body warm-up, footwork and styling instruction, and a partner pattern you can take straight to their social dances. Most classes rotate partners so you'll dance with different people throughout. Wear comfortable workout clothes and shoes that secure your heel; the studio has a shoe store on site and changing rooms if you want to freshen up.
