About this studio
Nova Ballroom Dance Center is run by Stratton and Jonathan DeWitt, partners in dance and in life. Both are US National Professional Bronze Medalists (2024) and Olympic-recognized Team USA representatives who placed in the top 21 at the Professional World Championship Standard Ballroom in Dresden, Germany. They are Professional Standard dancers and instructors based in Pittsburgh, PA, having dedicated themselves to the study of dancesport for over a decade. They continue to travel internationally for training and competition, currently underestudying Giovanni Caliandro and Arianna Esposito, among others.
The studio was founded in 2020 to offer the transformative gift of dance to all. Nova believes that dance can be the means to the best version of ourselves and our partnerships. Whatever your goals may be, the studio looks forward to dancing through the journey with you.
You can train for social dancing, competitive ballroom dancing, or wedding dances. Private lessons are available à la carte at $95 for a 45-minute session, or packaged — the Novice Package (four lessons, $360), Rising Star Package (eight lessons, $670), and Champion Package (twelve lessons, $960) all work for couples or individuals. Group classes are $15 per person when available, with class pass discounts offered by the month. Specialty workshops are $25 per person. Student discounts are available by request.
For wedding clients, the studio recommends four lessons for a first dance if time is short, eight for a polished routine, and twelve to truly impress. They work with couples who have no dance experience whatsoever and specialize in creating a warm and safe environment to learn in. Whether you're nervous in front of crowds or have mobility considerations, the instructors adapt their approach. They can help you find the perfect song or teach a natural sequence of figures rather than heavy choreography if that's your preference.
The studio is open Monday–Friday from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, and closed Sunday. **Important note: Nova Ballroom will be closing its Pittsburgh location and relocating to greater Boston on June 23, 2026. All existing package lessons must be booked prior to this date or be forfeited.**

Shoes must be clean, free from dirt and debris, and able to slide across the floor with no rubber soles. After the first couple of lessons, dress similarly to what you plan to wear at your event (e.g. wedding day) and bring those shoes or similar ones.
