About this studio
The Oklahoma City Swing Dance Club is a non-profit organisation that teaches and hosts weekly lessons and dance parties in all forms of swing dance. The club's mission is to provide people of all ages and cultures the opportunity to participate in social dance, preserve swing as one of the earliest expressions of American social dance, and incorporate the instruction and performance of all social dance forms.
West Coast Swing is the club's main focus, with a structured four-level programme taught on Mondays. PINK (Level 1, 8:00pm) teaches the basic fundamentals including 6 count and 8 count footwork and beginner-level moves; no partner is required as the class rotates partners. PURPLE (Level 2, 7:00pm) builds on those fundamentals with more difficult moves and deeper work on open and closed position. YELLOW (Level 3, 8:00pm) combines basic moves into complex patterns with lessons that vary month to month, suited to social dancers wanting to build repertoire. GREEN (Level 4, 7:00pm) focuses on complex moves, connection and dance technique. Beginner classes start on the 1st Monday of each month. The club also offers Country and Western, Ballroom, and Square Dancing.
The facility is located at 4361 NW 50th St, Suite 400, Oklahoma City, OK 73112. It features a large dance floor with seating on either side, plus four smaller rooms with dance floors for private or small group lessons. The club hosts a Monday practice party and mid-week mixer, and offers birthday parties (birthday month is free). The facility is available for rental.
West Coast Swing instructors include Gail Moore, Lonnie Johnson Jr., James Williams, Nghi Nguyen, Rhonda O'Meara, Mickey O'Dell, Goddard Finley, and Jody Graham. The club is run by a leadership team including Steve Wilson (President), Craig Bauer (Treasurer), Linda Cuccio (Communications Chair), James Williams (Dance Committee Chair), Rhonda O'Meara (Activities Chair), Gary Gaughran (Calendar Chair), and Valerie Simmons (Secretary).

First-time dancers can attend PINK level West Coast Swing on Mondays at 8:00pm without a partner, and rotate through the class with others.
