About this studio

Pacific School is a dance and fitness school with two locations in Marseille: Castellane (13006) and La Joliette (13002). Founded in 2011 by Alphet Bopaka, a state-qualified dance teacher, choreographer and sports coach, the school developed around the concept of Afro Pop Danse Sport — blending African dance culture with Western sport. The school serves over 800 students across both studios and operates from 10:00–14:00 and 17:00–22:00 Monday to Friday, with Saturday classes from 11:00–13:00.

Classes run across a wide range of styles and levels, from children aged 3 through to adults. You can train in hip-hop new style, popping, breakdance, afro fusion, afro pulse, afro pop, high heels, lady style, twerk, booty shake, ragga dancehall, dancehall gyal, samba brasileira, kizomba, KPOP, contemporary dance and street jazz. Different skill groups are set up so dancers of all levels can find their place and progress at their own pace. Both group classes and private lessons are available.

Beyond regular classes, Pacific School runs couple dance courses for wedding opening dances, choreographic preparation for weddings, EVG (bachelor parties) and EVJF (hen parties). The school organises an annual end-of-year gala where students perform on stage and showcase their progress to friends and family. Studio rental is available at €30 per hour for classes and rehearsals, €35 per hour for workshops and events like birthdays and seminars.

Alphet Bopaka remains the creative lead and sports coach. The school emphasises shared values of community, positivity and teaching excellence, with a focus on finding the link between each student's identity and the artistic demands of performing and sport.
