Salsa Zone

Salsa Zone is a Latin dance school and events organisation based in Sussex, operating from Revolution Brighton at 77 West Street. They teach salsa, bachata, kizomba, and merengue to beginners through advanced levels, and host weekly classes plus social dancing every Thursday, with kizomba classes on Mondays and free outdoor beginner classes on Sundays at Hove Lawns seafront.

The team is led by Ehab (E,b), the founder, who began dancing in Brighton in 1995 after watching a friend DJ at a salsa night. Despite initially believing he had "two left feet", he gradually became confident and has since danced with thousands of people worldwide, many of whom had never danced before. He brings over two decades of dancing experience and teaches salsa, bachata, and kizomba. Amanda, an instructor, started salsa casino classes at age 13 in Venezuela and learned musical theory and heels technique before relocating to the UK; she began teaching with Salsa Zone after learning bachata in Horsham in 2023 and returning to salsa at the end of 2024. Carolina discovered Latin dance at 18 through time spent with Latino communities and learned salsa, bachata, cumbia, merengue, and folkloric styles without formal training; she explored Cuban salsa and has been teaching with Salsa Zone for the past year. DJ Gervasio has been sharing his passion for Cuban music since 2000, co-creating the radio show "Timba Cubana in London" with Richard Serrano and interviewing legends including Juan Formell, Chucho Valdés, and Paulito FG; he has DJed at venues including Bar Salsa Soho and Brixton Salsa Club.

Thursday classes run 7:30 pm to 9:10 pm with a 10-minute break halfway. From 7:30–8:20 pm there are salsa improvers, intermediates, and advanced classes focusing on new steps, musical connection, and partner work. From 8:30–9:10 pm, beginner salsa and beginner/improvers bachata classes run simultaneously. A social dance follows from 9:10 pm to midnight with salsa, bachata, kizomba, and other Latin music. Mondays from 4 May 2026 feature kizomba classes: improvers 7–8 pm and beginners 8–9 pm, followed by a social dance party until midnight; the first beginners class is free. Sundays at Hove Lawns (weather permitting) offer free classes for newcomers and beginners from 4–8 pm. A monthly event called Sigue Bailando runs on the first Saturday of each month.

Private lessons are available from home, throughout Brighton and Hove, or at hired venues, and can be arranged worldwide for large Latin events. A complete course covers 5–7 hours on average and consists of three lessons (6 hours total): two hours of basics followed by two separate two-hour lessons, each with a different routine. Most students become confident dancers in as little as five hours. Salsa Zone also offers choreography for anniversaries, birthdays, hen parties, weddings, and graduation parties, including personalised first-dance routines and guest entertainment. They provide dance instructor training and live bands for events.

The studio emphasises no partner or experience required, welcoming beginners with step-by-step structured guidance. The team describes itself as a bridge to help students connect with the wider dance community across the UK and internationally, offering advice on where to dance locally and beyond.

Thursday classes start at 7:30 pm at Revolution Brighton with improvers, intermediates, and advanced salsa from 7:30–8:20 pm, followed by dedicated beginner salsa and bachata at 8:30–9:10 pm, then social dancing until midnight. No partner or prior experience needed — beginners are welcomed and mixed with all levels during the social.

No dance partner or experience required; structured classes guide you step by step, and most students become confident dancers in as little as five hours.
