Salsateca Dance School

Salsateca has been a fixture of the London salsa scene since 1992, and now operates across nine locations in central London, Lewisham, and Bromley. You can drop in any day of the week—there's always a class running somewhere. The school teaches Cuban Salsa, Cross Body Salsa, Salsa Percussion and Bachata at all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced dancers, with classes split by ability so you learn at your own pace.

Every class follows the same shape: a warm-up to get you moving, then you split into levels with a dedicated instructor for each group. Depending on the venue, you'll find between two and six levels running at once. Classes run with doors opening 10 minutes early, lessons lasting one hour, followed by free social dancing time (1–2 hours depending on the day). You can book online or pay cash at the door; no card reader on-site.

The school actively welcomes singles and couples, all ages, genders and backgrounds. Most students come alone; partner rotation during lessons is built into the experience so you meet new people and practise with different dancers. If you come with a partner, you can dance together throughout—just let the teacher know. The philosophy is clear: attitude matters more than experience. Come with an open mind and respect for others, and you'll fit right in.

Beyond regular lessons, Salsateca runs monthly parties: Salsateca Fiesta (last Saturday of the month in Lewisham, 7pm–1am), Latin Paradise (second Friday in Bromley, 7pm–midnight), Party Pa' Ti (first Saturday at London Bridge, 7:30pm–2am), and Cuban Socials at Waterloo. The school has expanded internationally, with branches in Slovenia, Croatia and Lebanon.

Arriving for your first class? The school recommends showing up 15 minutes early to speak with a teacher, who will help you find your level. Read the level guidelines on their website or ask—instructors are there to guide you.
