About this studio
The London Academy of Dance, established in 2007, is located in Southwark at TradeStars on Copperfield Street. The studio offers tuition seven days a week with experienced and highly trained staff. You can choose from Ballroom, Latin American, Tango, Salsa, and Bachata classes at all levels, from absolute beginners to competitive dancers. The studio also runs a full fitness programme including Pilates, Barre, Yoga, Zumba, Stretch & Mobility, and specialist postnatal classes (Mama & Baby Pilates and Baby-Wearing Dance Fitness).
The teaching staff are either former or current competitive dancers who hold recognised teaching qualifications from world-leading dance authorities, including Diploma, Associate, Licentiate and Fellowship level qualifications with the ISTD and IDTA. The Academy is proud to be affiliated with the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) and The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) — the UK's leading professional dance associations.
Dance classes include Salsa (LA Style, Beginners and Intermediate), Bachata (Beginners, Improvers, Ladies Style, and Absolute Beginners), Ladies Styling for Salsa and Bachata at all levels, and Ballroom & Latin for Beginners and Intermediate dancers. Drop-in prices range from £8 to £17 per class. The studio is located minutes from Southwark, London Bridge, Waterloo and Borough stations.
Fitness classes are designed for all ages and abilities. Each typically runs 45–60 minutes with structured warm-up, guided movement, and cool-down stretch. You can try a single class before committing to a pack or membership. Membership and class packages are available: Fitness Membership at £60 per month (3-month minimum with 3-day free trial), Zumba Month at £35, class packs of 10 (£80, valid 6 months) or 20 (£150, valid 6 months), or unlimited Gold membership at £100 per month for all fitness and dance classes.
Private dance lessons are available for those working toward competitive level or preparing for specific events. Wedding dance choreography is offered — the studio works with you on song choice, movement, and how to use your venue's dance floor. The studio also runs group outings to social dances, corporate dance packages for team-building, and show preparation with bespoke choreography for events.
What to expect
Your first visit
You'll attend at a fully equipped, climate-controlled studio with modern shower rooms and bathrooms. Classes are bookable online in advance. Bring comfortable activewear and water; grip socks are optional for Pilates and Barre, and mats are provided. You do not need a partner for dance classes or prior fitness experience.
