About this studio

Somos Tango Stockholm teaches Argentine tango at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. The studio was founded in 2023 by four teachers—Sara Westin, Juan Pablo Canavire (Juampi), Adrian Ferreyra and Dulce Lauria—who met while working together at DNI Tango, a renowned tango school in Buenos Aires. They brought their shared vision to Stockholm: to spread tango as an art form, healing practice, socialising activity and life-changing passion.

The school runs four main types of classes. Starter courses (Tango 1 to 5) are for beginners and build progressively, with role-balanced classes of leaders and followers. Intermediate courses are section-based and cover seven areas of technique; Intermediate 2 extends to advanced level. Drop-in classes run on Saturdays at 14:00 (intermediate) and Thursdays at 18:00 (intermediate/advanced); these cost 230 kr and require no registration or partner. Private lessons—1 hour long—are available in single sessions (1200 kr) or discounted packs of 3 (800 kr each) or 5 (740 kr each), with wide availability across morning, afternoon and evening slots at two locations: Entréskolan in Gröndal and Studio Touch near St. Eriksplan.

Practicas and milongas run on Thursdays 19:00–21:00 (Somos Guided Practica, 100 kr; or combined with the Advanced Class for 250 kr) and Saturdays 15:00–18:00 (Che Practica, 150 kr; or combined with the Intermediate Class for 300 kr). Both are drop-in, no partner needed, and feature a house DJ selection of tandas. The Che Practica includes complimentary homemade sweets, coffee and tea.

All four teachers bring deep experience. Sara is known for patience and clarity, combining years in ballet with tango teaching. Juampi is praised for understanding students' needs and helping them find their own path. Adrian has taught internationally and is known for seeing through students to find the right tools for progress. Dulce, trained as a yoga instructor, applies biomechanics and body awareness to her teaching. They work as a team, sharing methodology and cooperating when students work with multiple teachers.

Courses run on a cyclic schedule with new openings every 5 weeks. A minimum of 4 couples is required per course; solo dancers can apply and will be matched with a partner. Courses are 5 hours and cost 1125 kr. The studio welcomes absolute beginners and also serves dancers seeking high-level technique and community.

What to expect

Your first visit

Drop-in classes have a friendly, flexible structure: show up at the time, pay 230 kr at the door, and dance with classmates in a role-balanced class. If fewer than 8 students arrive, a semi-private alternative is offered. Practicas are social gatherings with no registration—just show up, meet dancers old and new, practise your moves, and enjoy music curated by house DJs Juampi and Adrian.

Studio history

Somos Tango Stockholm was founded in 2023 by four friends and colleagues—Sara Westin, Juan Pablo Canavire, Adrian Ferreyra and Dulce Lauria—who met while working together at DNI Tango, a renowned tango school in Buenos Aires.
