About this studio

Studio K Dance and Fitness is run by owners and artistic directors Kristen and Kelsey Wegman, who built the studio around their shared love for dance and commitment to creating a supportive community. The studio's mission is to provide dancers with excellent dance education while emphasizing teamwork, leadership, and personal growth alongside technical skill. They believe being a dancer means more than technical excellence—it's about building confidence and strong bonds within a dance family.

Kristen Wegman graduated in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from The College at Brockport State University. At Brockport, she was Co-Captain of The Brockport Dance Team and is a member of The Chamber Ballet Brockport, a performance ballet ensemble. She has trained under and performed in works by Falcon Dance director Britt Falcon, as well as Juanita Suarez, Stevie Oakes, Jennifer Weber, and Darwin Prioleau. Before college, she trained at Michelle Buschner School of Dance/Perinton Dance Company and Pittsford Dance Studio. She also studied modern dance at The Aquinas Institute of Rochester under Donna Brett, and has performed at the Rochester Fringe Festival and for the Rochester Lancer Dancers. Kristen has been teaching throughout Rochester since 2014, leading classes during the dance season, master classes, summer intensives, and setting choreography at various studios.

Kelsey Wegman, age 23, began dancing at age two and competing at age five in Rochester. She graduated in May 2022 with a BFA in Dance from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York. She trained at Michelle Buschner School of Dance/Perinton Dance Company, Pittsford Dance Studio, and Spins Dance Studio under Cheryl Flanigan, and studied at The Aquinas Institute with Donna Brett and Allison Thomeshefski. In 2022 Kelsey became an Acrobatic Arts Certified teacher and served as a teaching assistant at the University at Buffalo. At UB she performed in multiple faculty, guest artist, and student choreographed pieces, choreographed for UB Dance's 2020 Virtual Performance and Dancers Workshop in 2022, and held positions including Assistant to the Director for Emerging Choreographers Showcase 2021 and co-director of UB Dance Class of 2022 Senior Showcase. Kelsey has performed at Rochester Fringe Festival, Nazareth's MAD Festival, Rochester Fashion Week, and was a member of the Rochester Lancer Dancers. She has been co-owner and artistic director of Studio K since 2018.
