About this studio
Swing Academy UK runs weekly West Coast Swing classes in two central London locations. Classes meet every Tuesday at the Swiss Church on Endell Street in Covent Garden (4 minutes from Covent Garden tube station) and every Thursday at Vestry Hall in Bloomsbury, near Holborn and Tottenham Court Road tube stations. Both sessions run from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.
Each evening is structured to welcome dancers at all levels. The first 50 minutes (7.30–8.20pm) cover warm-up, basic fundamentals and technique for everyone. Beginners then have a freestyle track (8.20–8.25pm) followed by a technique or beginners review class (8.25–8.55pm). Intermediate and advanced dancers move into new movement classes or progressive movement work in the same slot. A second freestyle session runs from 8.55–9.00pm, then intermediate/advanced dancers continue with movement development until 9.30pm. The evening concludes with 1 hour of social dancing for all levels (9.30–10.30pm).
Instructor Coleen Man leads all classes. The academy emphasises musicality and connection, and promotes a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment. A detailed code of conduct and safeguarding policy underpin the space, with clear guidelines on consent in partner dancing, personal boundaries, and reporting mechanisms for any concerns.
The academy also runs workshops and social events. Upcoming offerings include the Enhance Your Dance Workshop on 25th July 2026 and W1 Swing @ Holborn on Saturday 25th July 2026. Absolute beginners can attend their first class free (unless a special guest teacher is featured, in which case standard entry applies).
