About this studio
Swing 'n' Sweet Jazzclub is a jazz venue in Bergen city center at Øvre Ole Bulls plass 3, in the heart of the city. The club runs weekly events from September to May, presenting a broad range of swing, traditional jazz, and big band jazz performed by musicians based in the Bergen area.
The venue is more than a café — it's a community of jazz enthusiasts run on a voluntary basis. Members have a say in which artists perform on stage. The club presents everything from classic jazz standards to contemporary interpretations, with bands that draw on styles including Django Reinhardt-inspired string swing, bossa nova, mambo, reggae-jazz, samba, bolero, and funky jazz.
Recent performances have featured The Booming Betties and the Cheeky Chads (three vocalists performing tight three-part harmonies), Ole Amund Gjersvik Quintet (performing the album HOPE), and Swingstang (two guitars, violin, and double bass with vocals). The club hosts live bands playing at a high standard, with performances that retain a fresh, almost live feel.
The venue updates followers regularly on Facebook with information about upcoming events, performance videos, news, and more. You can become a member to shape the club's artistic direction.
