About this studio
Swing'o'Roma has been teaching swing dance in Rome since 1998, when Eddy Ceccarelli brought Lindy Hop to Italy for the first time. The academy operates under the name Accademia dello Swing and is run by Eddy and his wife Betty Granio, both F.I.T.D.-certified instructors in Jazz Dance.
Eddy Ceccarelli is Italy's first Lindy Hopper and a pioneer in promoting swing culture across the country. He studied Rock'n'Roll and Boogie Woogie before teaching himself Lindy Hop from 1995 onwards. In 2001, he brought Lindy Hop into Italy's first nationally recognized dance school through I.A.L.S. (Istituto Addestramento Lavoratori dello Spettacolo). He holds the credential of Maestro Tecnico Federale Danze Jazz Livello Oro from F.I.T.D., awarded in 2006. His teaching approach covers rhythm study, musical listening and interpretation across a 360-degree method.
Betty Granio joined the school in 2011 after discovering her passion for the discipline. She obtained her F.I.T.D. diploma as an instructor in Jazz Dance and Lindy Hop in 2018. She works alongside Eddy as his dance partner and co-director, bringing attention to reliability and precision in teaching while maintaining the academy's signature method.
The teaching team also includes Giuliano Passino (instructor since 2012, F.I.T.D. certified 2018), Elettra Merlo (instructor since 2012, F.I.T.D. certified 2018), and Claudia Ciotti (assistant since 2018). Giuliano serves as official DJ for international Swing'o'Roma events including Roma Lindy Exchange, Roma Balboa & Shag Exchange, and Swing Snow Camp. Elettra has taught at Formello Jazz Festival and opened courses in Formello and Bracciano.
The academy runs regular classes, private lessons, workshops and mini-courses. It organizes major events including Roma Lindy Exchange, Roma Balboa & Shag Exchange, Swing Snow Camp, and St.Louis Shag Weekend. They also offer themed parties with animation and DJ services, vintage shopping, and vacanze romane (Roman Holiday themed events). The school accepts applications from dancers interested in joining the teaching staff, show team, or event organization team.
