About this studio
Synergy Dance Academy is the first dance school in the Netherlands to teach Bachata without fixed gender roles. The studio's core method is RoleRotation: every dancer learns both leading and following in the same class, rotating partners and roles throughout each session. This approach breaks traditional limitations and lets you dance with anyone, regardless of gender or background.
Bachata is a partner dance from the Dominican Republic, known for its rhythm, flow, and connection between two people. It blends musicality, body movement, and emotion into a grounded, expressive form. At Synergy, the teaching combines strong fundamentals with space to explore and have fun.
Classes run on Mondays and Thursdays at Overvliet 54 in Utrecht. The schedule includes Beginners Level 1 (Thursdays 19:00–20:00), Improvers RoleRotation partnering (Mondays 18:45–19:45 and Thursdays 20:00–21:00), Intermediate RoleRotation partnering (Mondays 20:30–21:30), and Styling/All around dance technique (Mondays 19:45–20:30, 45 minutes, open level). The styling class focuses on spins and turning technique, head movement, arm styling and body awareness, clean footwork, mobility and stretching, and musicality.
The teaching team includes Linda, the founder and CEO—a highly experienced international performer and educator with a strong didactic approach and role-rotation vision who also teaches styling classes. Dillon is described as a vibe creator and social dance specialist with infectious energy and a background in bachatrio. Romy brings precision, passion, and expression, translating musicality into movement. Esther offers calm, patient, and supportive teaching with close attention to individual progress.
No partner is required to join classes. Role balance is not an issue because participants rotate throughout each session. You don't have to pick a role beforehand; you will lead and follow in one class. The studio welcomes absolute beginners and encourages anyone who thinks they can't dance to join. All classes are held in person at Overvliet 54; the studio also undertakes collaborations and events elsewhere in the Netherlands and abroad.
