About this studio
Takamouv is a specialised hip hop dance centre located in downtown Lyon, near the Hôtel de Ville. The studio has operated since 1998 and brings 28 years of experience to every class. They offer 26 hip hop courses across three age groups: children (Eveil and Initiation), teenagers (Popping, Freestyle, Breaking), and adults (Popping, Freestyle, Breaking). Each class combines technical instruction with cultural and historical teaching of hip hop, delivered by teachers trained in Takamouv's own methods.
The studio functions as more than a place to take classes—it describes itself as "a large family" that operates on hip hop culture values. Students automatically become members when they enrol in classes, but non-dancers can also join as members separately and benefit from member advantages.
Beyond regular classes, Takamouv runs intensive stages, workshops, and Saturday training sessions (on reservation for members). The studio organises public events including Battles and the Rally of Culture, plus exclusive member events such as integration evenings and meals. Members receive 15% discounts on all workshops, stages, and events, reduced rates on private lessons, and access to DJ set evenings.
Open trial periods are offered—most recently 15–26 June—allowing prospective students to try classes by reservation. The centre is registered as a 1901 association and can be reached Monday to Friday 10:00–17:00.
