Abailar is an independent dance school in Bümpliz, Bern, established in 2019. The studio teaches eight distinct styles: Salsa Cubana, Salsa Styling, Afro Contemporary, Afrobeat, Hip-Hop, Reggaetón, Rueda Cubana, and Kindertanzen (children's dance). Each style is grounded in its cultural roots—Cuban salsa runs at 180–200 BPM with conversational, round movement; Bachata (Dominican, 120–140 BPM) is described as earthy and sensual; Afro Contemporary blends West African roots with contemporary practice; Hip-Hop and Reggaetón (90–100 BPM) centre attitude over technique, drawing from NYC and Puerto Rico; Urban Push runs open-level with guest teachers and variable tempos; Rueda Cubana is circle-based partner dancing.
Classes run Monday to Friday, 17:00–22:00. The school structures teaching across Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. Instructors named include Aisha and Henry, who teach Advanced Salsa Styling and Salsa Cubana together. Aisha also leads Advanced Afro Contemporary and the Las Serpientes Show Group. Asja teaches Hip-Hop and Reggaetón at Beginner and Intermediate levels.
Subscription options are designed for regular attendance: CHF 550 for 2 hours per week over 3 months (approximately CHF 46 per week) is the most popular choice; CHF 275 for 1 hour per week; CHF 344 for 1.25 hours per week; CHF 280 for the Show Group plus Urban Push; CHF 200 per term for children's courses; and CHF 250 per month for unlimited access.
