About this studio
The Dance Place has been teaching dance to the Grapevine community for over 10 years. They offer instruction across five partnership dance styles: Ballroom, Latin, Swing, Country and Salsa. The studio welcomes everyone from complete beginners (they note "two left feet" are fine) to advanced competitive dancers.
You can start with their Introductory Special: three 30-minute private lessons, one group class and one social party for $74. During private lessons, beginners are introduced to the three main categories — Smooth (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot), Rhythm (East Coast Swing, Cha Cha, Rumba) and Country Western (Two-Step) — so you can discover which style suits you before committing to a longer programme.
Group classes run throughout the week at affordable rates. Tuesday brings West Coast Swing at three levels: Beginner (7:30pm, no partner required), Beginner Plus (8pm, for those with prior experience), and Social Dance (8:45pm–11pm). Wednesday offers a four-week Country Beginner series at 6:45pm, starting the first Wednesday of each month. Thursday is Ballroom Beginner at 6:45pm, rotating through different ballroom styles each week. Friday is Salsa Beginner at 6:45pm. Drop-in rates are $10 per person for most classes. A Dancer's Club Membership costs $40/month (covers Country, Ballroom and Salsa group classes plus monthly parties), or Unlimited Access is $60/month.
Social parties happen every first Thursday of the month from 7:30–9pm ($10 drop-in, or $15 if you attend the group class first). These are central to the studio's philosophy: a chance to meet other dancers, apply what you've learned and have fun in a real social setting. The studio explicitly states partners are not required.
Beyond group work, The Dance Place specialises in wedding choreography. They offer a $43 wedding consultation covering the first dance for the bride and groom, plus options for mother–son, father–daughter and bridal party dances. They work from the specifics of your day — your dress, your music, your venue setup — and can create anything from fully choreographed routines to simple, elegant additions to what you already know. They can work with couples on very tight timelines.
The studio also hosts an Annual Dance Showcase, a major event where students perform pieces of their choice at The Palace Theatre in downtown Grapevine. The 2026 showcase is scheduled for Sunday, October 4th at 1:30pm (tickets $20 online, $25 at the door, free for children under 10).
You can visit in person during business hours (Monday–Friday 12pm–9pm, Saturday by appointment). The instructors are described as highly trained, experienced dancers who are passionate about helping students achieve their personal goals.
