About this studio
The Jitterbug Club teaches Swing, Lindy Hop and Rock'n'Roll dancing at multiple Sydney locations, with weekly classes in Marrickville on Monday and Tuesday evenings, plus a Wednesday workshop class for intermediate dancers.
Classes run at two levels: Beginners start at 7pm and Intermediate at 8.15pm. Total beginners are welcome at any time with no booking required — your first class is free. You don't need a partner; the club rotates partners during class so you'll meet new people and improve faster by dancing with different leads and follows.
The Marrickville venue is based at the Sydney Portugal Club, 100 Marrickville Rd. Classes cost $23 per person per night as a drop-in, or you can buy a 5-class pass for $105 or a 10-class pass for $200. Intermediate dancers can attend beginner classes free to keep working on fundamentals.
Beyond weekly classes, The Jitterbug Club hosts Jitterbug Jump, a monthly social dance party held on the 25th of July, 22nd of August, 26th of September and 31st of October. These beginner-friendly socials run from 7pm (taster class) through 8pm (social dancing) at 276 Norton St, Leichhardt, and cost $23 including both the class and social dancing. Bring your own drinks and snacks.
The club also offers wedding dance packages: you can join weekly group classes to learn fundamentals, then take private lessons to choreograph a first dance tailored to your song. They perform entertainment at weddings too, bringing Roaring 20s, Swinging 30s & 40s, or Rock'n'Roll 50s themes — with options ranging from arrival performances and routines between meals to audience participation that gets all your guests dancing.

Arrive at the Portugal Club on Marrickville Rd and head to the colourful wall in Fraser Park's carpark — the club is opposite the trapeze. Your first class is free. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes with minimal grip; bring a water bottle. You'll rotate partners, so being alone is fine. Classes are relaxed and beginner-focused.
