About this studio

Two Flame Tango teaches Argentine Tango using principles from the Alexander Technique, focusing on how your body moves rather than memorizing steps. The studio is run by Christopher Neville, an Alexander Technique teacher with over 20 years of tango experience, and Sofe Turner, a tango instructor and Alexander Technique practitioner.

The weekly class schedule runs Monday to Thursday. Monday offers Tango Foundations (6:30–7:30 PM) covering basic steps, balance, and embrace, plus a separate Zero to Tango beginner six-week series (8:00–9:00 PM) designed for complete newcomers. Tuesday has Intro to Spirals (6:30–7:30 PM) and Level 2 Double Spiral Tango (8:00–9:00 PM). Thursday hosts Milonga del Alma (7:00–9:00 PM), a weekly social dance with no frills, rotating DJs, and different themes each week: Vinyl Night (1st Thursday), Guardia Vieja with beginner focus (2nd Thursday), a guest DJ series (3rd Thursday), and The Nuevo Edge for contemporary tango (4th Thursday).

The six-week beginner programme costs $97 per person (single or couple) as a one-time payment with no subscription. It includes six live classes, a student portal with recap videos and written notes, practice exercises, and a curated tango music playlist. There is a money-back guarantee: if the first class isn't right for you, you get a full refund. No partner or dance experience is required; partners rotate throughout class. Classes teach balance, posture, coordination, musicality, and connection, aiming for students to dance comfortably with a partner, hear and move with tango music, and attend their first social dance with confidence.

Classes are held at Sugar Space Arts Warehouse, 132 S 800 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84104, in the blue building. Free parking is available on-site; enter from Jeremy Street (west entrance). The venue has a floor and acoustics chosen for social dancing. Milonga del Alma costs $12 for non-members; members of Two Flame Tango's programme include this in their membership. The studio also runs larger special events, including Milonga de Julio, held at a separate venue (E. W. Garbett Center for Choral Studies, 700 N 200 W). Private lessons are available with Christopher. The studio publishes a Daily Tango email offering 60-second doses of inspiration, music, and technique tips.
