About this studio

Millennium Dance Complex SLC is located in the southwest corner of Trolley Square in downtown Salt Lake City. The studio operates as Salt Lake City's full-time studio rental facility and runs regular classes for dancers at all levels.

The business is rooted in a longer history: the original Millennium Dance Complex was founded in Los Angeles in 1992 by Robert and AnnMarie, who met in a jazz-funk dance class on Broadway in New York City. AnnMarie had been teaching and creating spaces for dance since she began taking classes on Broadway at age ten. Robert came to dance after a career as an illusionist and work in television production. In Los Angeles, they took over what had been Moro Landis Studios, a landmark 10,000 square foot facility, and reopened it as Millennium in 1999. The original studio became known for blending hip-hop with classical dance forms and attracting top choreographers and industry professionals. The studio won Best Dance Studio at the first Hip Hop Dance Awards in 1999. The Salt Lake City location carries forward that legacy under the same name.

Classes are offered Monday to Thursday 5:00 PM–10:00 PM, Friday 6:00 PM–9:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM–2:30 PM, and Sunday 9:00 AM–11:15 AM. Sign-in happens in person at the front desk on the day of class. Groups can pre-arrange classes. The schedule is subject to updates and substitutions, which are posted on the website, Instagram, the lobby schedule board, or available by phone.

The studio offers two rental spaces. Studio X is the main studio with wood floors, measuring 48 ft × 38 ft. Studio B has Marley floors and measures 42 ft × 33 ft. Both include mirrored walls, JBL speaker systems with CD and iPod connectors, portable barres, and central air and heat. The studio rents to choreographers, rehearsal groups, audition holders, video shoots, and private events. Base rental rates vary by studio and number of guests; rates double for bookings after 10 PM Monday–Thursday, 9 PM Friday, and 3 PM Saturday. A $40 facility manager fee applies to rentals outside normal business hours. For groups exceeding 25 dancers, an additional $10 per 25 dancers is added. Rental reservations require a credit card on file. Call the studio for rates.

The studio runs several programmes. Boomcrew and Kaboom are listed on the site, along with a Workstudy Program. A non-profit called More Than Moves is also mentioned, with an annual gala. The studio is available for masterclasses with visiting instructors—a recent example was a masterclass with Delaney Glazer on Thursday, June 25th.
