About this studio

Vintage Club is a swing dance studio and social venue in central Munich, accessed through the City-Kino Passage on Sonnenstraße. The studio runs regular classes in Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie, Balboa, Shag, and related styles across multiple levels, from absolute beginner to advanced. Classes are held Monday to Friday across two studio spaces, with Wednesday and Thursday courses also offered at a satellite location (Petit Palais, Schwanthalerstraße).

The studio is run by Marcus and Bärbl, the owners, who have been leading figures in the national and international swing dance scene for over 20 years. Both are multiple-time World, German, and US champions and have received international awards. The teaching philosophy emphasises learning through partner rotation in classes, which the studio sees as the fastest way to progress and build community. You can attend with a partner or solo.

Classes follow a structured progression. Beginner courses (Level 1) span 12 hours divided into three themed blocks (A, B, C) of four weeks each, with content covering basics, moves in 6-count and 8-count variations, and double time. Intermediate and advanced levels build on these foundations. The studio also runs specialised courses including solo blues, solo Charleston, rockabilly jive, and group performance classes. Children's classes include Peppa Swing for ages 1.5–4 with parents, and Swing Agents for ages 5–10. Teen courses are offered for ages 11–14 and 15–18.

Vintage Club hosts weekly social dancing every Sunday in the form of the Fifties Record Hop (19:15–23:15, entry 10 euros), a tradition running since 1972. The venue also runs themed Saturday nights including beginner practice sessions, Balboa and Shag matinees, and special events with guest DJs and instructors. Past guests have included Blake & Grace from the USA, who lead intensive workshops in Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Collegiate Shag. The studio offers a bar during all events and kid courses, and accepts advance bookings for private lessons.
