Wanda Deagen Studio

Wanda Deagen Dance Studio has been teaching partner dancing in San Antonio since 1988. The studio offers instruction across ballroom, country, Latin, swing, and Tejano styles in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Whether you're starting out or refining your technique, the studio tailors its approach to how you learn best.

You can learn in three formats. Private lessons run one-on-one or as a couple with an instructor who designs a personalized lesson plan for you. Semi-private lessons put 2 to 3 dance couples with one instructor, balancing individual attention with the benefits of learning alongside others. Group classes let you learn within a cohort, with instructor-led partner rotation to develop your lead and follow skills across different dancers.

The studio also runs specialized programs. Customized group classes can be designed for companies, church groups, school groups, singles groups and other organizations as a 3 to 6 week course or one-time workshop. You can train for competition, prepare for a wedding, or join an apprenticeship program.

Classes are 45 minutes in length. Group instruction rotates partners throughout to build lead and follow skills. The studio asks that you notify them if you'll be absent, so they can maintain a balanced male-female ratio.

The studio is located at 2113 Vance Jackson in the historic Dell Village shopping strip, inside Loop 410 and one block north of I-10. Because much of their teaching is done on an appointment basis, call ahead before stopping by to ensure someone will be available.
