The school teaches Chinese Classical Dance, Chinese Folk Dance, Chinese Fan Dance and Chinese Ribbon Dance, alongside jazz dance routines. Wanlin Steele is the director and a professional Chinese dancer, performer and choreographer. She trained professionally from age ten and graduated in Chinese Classical Dance and Performance from the Beijing Dance Academy, the world-renowned institution in China. While a student there, she represented the academy at the Taoli Cup, China's top dance competition, and won a Best Performance Award. Before moving to the UK, Wanlin performed and choreographed extensively across China, including at the birthday celebrations for the King of Thailand, and made repeated appearances on Chinese television.
Beyond regular classes, Wanlin Dance operates a professional troupe of advanced dancers available for hire. The ensemble has delivered stage performances at events across the UK and is available for bookings at diverse venues including cruise ships, educational institutions and special events. The school maintains partnerships with Sheffield University and various charitable organisations, and actively participates in the annual Sheffield Chinese New Year Festival. The school has also been invited to showcase at prestigious events such as Move It.
While the main classes operate from Sheffield, the school also holds classes for events nationally, internationally and on cruise ships. Whether you want to move, improve, dance or get fit, the school welcomes those looking to learn traditional Chinese dance forms under experienced instruction.
