About this studio
Wings Studios runs classes across three Cambridge locations: YMCA on Gonville Place (the Central studio listed here), AlphaFit Performance Centre in Milton, and Abbey Leisure Complex on Whitehill Road. The studio was founded by Hazel and James, who met in Cambridge in 2013 and decided to build their dream together. Hazel trained in aerial arts from 2009 onwards and holds a B.A. Hons in Dance plus a Post Grad in teaching; she is one of the few qualified Aerial Yoga instructors in the county. James began dancing at age 9 and has taught Pole, Hoop and Silks since 2012. Both are accredited professionals.
The teaching team has expanded significantly. Holly joined in 2020 after training at Italia Conti Academy in London and performing professionally worldwide—she teaches dance, pole, hoop and silks. Ben gained his Hoop instructor qualification in 2021 and teaches yoga and aerial alongside his hoop classes; he previously competed on a university cheerleading team. Anna discovered pole over 7 years ago and now teaches pole, silks and hoops. Lily started pole at age 17, competed and performed across the country, and gained her pole instructor qualification in summer 2025.
For adults, Wings offers Pole Fitness, Aerial Hoop, Aerial Silks, Aerial Yoga, and Filthy Fitness classes. For kids, the studio runs Aerial Acrobatics, Kids Aerial, and Kids Dance. The studio also offers Dance Examinations and Performance Opportunities, and runs a Christmas showcase where students can perform skills they've learned.
Group bookings are available for adults and children. Adult groups can book Pole, Aerial Hoop, Aerial Silks, Aerial Yoga or a mixture for hen parties, stag dos, birthdays or special occasions. Kids' birthday parties can incorporate aerial, acrobatics or dance themes, with studio decoration included and capacity for up to 15 children. Wings also has professional performers available to hire for events. Summer activity includes a 3 Day Summer School Extravaganza for kids featuring Aerial and Airtrack classes, and an Aerial Afternoon programme. Pay As You Go options are available.

Studio history
Hazel and James met in Cambridge in 2013 and decided to chase their dreams together by opening Wings Studios. Hazel had been training in aerial arts since 2009 and teaching herself pole from her university dorm room, while James started learning aerial arts in his adult years. After working in retail management, James left that path to co-found the studio. Holly joined the team in 2020 to help Wings grow and flourish.
