Overview
Public body created in early 2005 by the Andalusian regional government to consolidate flamenco policy, operating under the Agencia Andaluza de Instituciones Culturales. Its remit is the recuperacion, investigacion, conservacion y difusion del patrimonio flamenco - recovery, research, conservation and dissemination of flamenco heritage - together with grants, festival support, education and international promotion. Runs the Centro Andaluz de Documentacion del Flamenco at the Palacio Pemartin in Jerez, which received the archives of the Catedra de Flamencologia de Jerez. Flamenco is recognised in Article 68 of the Statute of Autonomy of Andalusia and was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on 16 November 2010.
