Traditional Kumiodori Preservation Society

Overview

Preservation society established by Kumiodori performers, identified in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage element file for "Kumiodori, traditional Okinawan musical theatre" (inscribed 2010, Japan) as the body that "train[s] performers, revives discontinued dramas, and carries out performances on a regular basis". The society maintains its own site at kumiodori.jp under the Japanese name ippan shadan hojin Dento Kumiodori Hozonkai. Its About page records that it operated as a voluntary body before incorporating as a general incorporated association on 29 January 2013; the original founding year is not stated there, so founded_year remains blank.
