Overview
Founded 24 July 1984, LIESA is the association of Rio de Janeiro's leading samba schools. It writes and enforces the technical regulations for the Carnival parade at the Sambodromo, appoints and publishes the justifications of the judges, and administers the Cidade do Samba production complex.
