About this studio

Academia Artedanza teaches two dance traditions at Laurenzgasse 5 in Zürich's central district: belly dance and Argentine tango.

Belly dance classes for beginners run on Mondays from 17:30 to 18:50. The studio welcomes you to try a free trial class (Probestunde). You can enrol by phone or by email.

Argentine tango is structured by level. Tango M (Monday 19:00), Tango B (Thursday 19:00), and Tango 3 (Tuesday 19:00) run throughout 2026. The school also runs an intensive tango introduction course; the next session is Sunday 8 February 2026, 15:00–18:00, which you can join with or without a partner.

The studio is founded and run by Ariel Gutierrez and Elisa Niederer. Ariel is an Argentine tango dancer and teacher from Tucumán, Argentina, now based in Zürich. He emphasises musicality, connection, and authentic movement, and is known for a warm, clear and structured teaching style. He organises regular milongas, workshops, and cultural tango evenings alongside his classes. Elisa (known as Aziza) has been teaching belly dance and Argentine tango since 2001 and is a qualified pedagogue. She has run the school since January 2006. Together they combine traditional technique with deep knowledge of Argentine culture and music.

Students consistently describe the atmosphere as positive and encouraging. One tango student noted that Elisa and Ariel "live and breathe dance" and transmit their passion for tango in ways that deepen students' understanding. Belly dance students praise Elisa's energetic and joyful approach.
