AlsSocialDance teaches social jive in Mumbai, founded in 2019 in a small school classroom in Bandra. The studio has grown to teach over 100 couples and now operates from Studio Level Up, KCA Hostel, Veronica Rd, St Sebastian Colony, Ranwar, Bandra West.

Alvito Cabral, the founder and lead instructor, began his dance journey in 2007 and has been running social dance classes in Mumbai for more than 5+ years. He trained under Sandip Soparrkar and learned through years of practice and observing great dancers. His teaching philosophy centres on the 80–20 rule: 80% is steps and mechanics, but the other 20%—training, flair, creativity, and connection with your partner—is what transforms dancing from something you do into something you feel.

Group jive classes run on a month-on-month progressive structure, with new beginner levels starting each month. Classes are 1 hour per week, and you move through levels (level one, level two, and beyond) progressively. Partner rotation happens during every class, so if you don't have a partner or there's an uneven gender split, you'll dance with multiple people. The studio recommends at least 6 months of classes to become a good social dancer. Students can also attend lower levels for free to revise previous steps.

Private dance classes are available in-studio or at home across Mumbai, with flexible scheduling. Wedding first dances and anniversary celebration dances are also offered, with custom choreography. Ian Fernandes serves as Production Manager. The studio emphasises a beginner-friendly, non-judgmental environment where mistakes are part of the process and no one is rushed or compared. Classes focus on clear basics, musical understanding, confident movement, smooth lead-and-follow technique, improvisation, and reading the music. Trials are available—you can pay to take the first class of a batch as a single session.

You'll join a class of mixed-ability students in a relaxed, non-judgmental space. Everyone rotates partners so you get used to leading or following different people. The focus is on clear basics and building confidence, not performance. Mistakes are normal and part of learning.
