Arthur Murray Dance Studio Rancho Bernardo teaches over 30 styles of dance to beginners and experienced dancers alike. The studio offers lessons for singles, couples, and wedding preparation, with a focus on partner dances including Waltz, Swing, Cha Cha, Salsa, Tango, and Two-Step.
The Latin program covers LA Style Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, and Cha Cha. For Swing enthusiasts, the studio teaches East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, and West Coast Swing—the latter dubbed "Sophisticated Swing" and originating from California in the 1940s. Argentine Tango instruction includes both Tango Vals (with its 3/4 rhythm inspired by Viennese Waltz) and Milonga, the faster social version of Tango danced to the bandoneon.
On your first lesson, you'll answer questions about your goals and the look and feel you'd like, then be guided through basics by a highly-trained instructor. You'll start learning to dance on your very first visit and leave with a plan of action for the next sessions. The studio uses what it calls a "fool-proof method" designed to get you on the dance floor quickly.
For couples preparing a wedding dance, the studio offers three approaches: full choreography, lead-and-follow improvisation, or a combination of both. The studio includes music editing as part of wedding dance lessons. Wedding dances typically run 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
