About this studio

AttiCat Swing is the swing dance school south of the Elbe in Hamburg, specialising in Lindy Hop — the energetic partner dance born in 1920s–30s Harlem from African American jazz culture. The studio teaches what they call "the somewhat different dance", set to driving swing music and performed at tempos ranging from laid-back to very fast.

Classes run on Thursdays in multi-week blocks, with separate courses for beginners and advanced dancers. Beyond structured classes, the school offers relaxed open practice evenings called "Practice Times" and mini-workshops on specific topics. You can also arrange private lessons by contacting the studio.

Lindy Hop at AttiCat Swing is taught with full flexibility on partnership. Once you've learned the basics, you have freedom to improvise, and crucially, you can dance with anyone regardless of gender, age or background. You're welcome without a fixed partner. The school encourages dancers to choose and learn either the following or leading role — or both — and switching between roles is standard practice.

Gift vouchers are available in any amount you choose, printed directly from email. The studio also maintains a media library and history section on their website exploring Lindy Hop's origins.
