About this studio
Lesley McIntosh teaches private ballroom dance lessons from her studio in San Jose, specialising in wedding first dances and social ballroom for couples and singles. She has spent over 20 years helping people gain confidence on the dance floor, and brings genuine enthusiasm to instruction: former students consistently praise her patience, her ability to teach quickly, and her detailed attention to technique—how you hold your arms, your stance, the small details that make a couple look polished together.
Lesson focus is practical. For weddings, Lesley helps couples prepare their first dance, practise with actual wedding shoes and dress, and even advises on music selection. For social dancing, she teaches couples and singles preparing for upcoming parties, cruises, and social events. She has worked with several community organisations including LGHS Boys Club, SJSU, The Terraces of Los Gatos, LGS Recreation, Debonair Dancers, and Mates & Dates Ballroom Dance Club.
Lesley's background includes four years as a professional rhythm competitor and several years as a pro/am competitor, competing across the US. She has been a member of NDCA for over 20 years and regularly judges the San Jose State Ballroom Competition, so you're learning from someone deeply embedded in the ballroom dance community.
All lessons are by appointment, held Monday to Friday between 4:00 and 9:30 pm, with Saturday available by special request. Each private lesson is 45 minutes and costs $100 for one or two people. A four-lesson wedding or introductory package is $392. Payment is accepted by cash, check, or Venmo, with a 12-hour cancellation policy. The studio is located at 1824 Hillsdale Avenue, San Jose.
