About this studio

Blue Moon Dance Co. is a partner dance studio on South Lamar Boulevard in South Austin, founded by Erin Frazier. The studio teaches country, ballroom, Latin, and swing styles, with both group classes and private lessons available. No partner is required to start.

The studio runs group classes in 4-week series, with each week building on the previous one. Classes last 40 minutes with a 5-minute break between sessions. Beginners start in Week 1 or 2 of each series. The progression in beginner classes covers Foundations and Learning Names (Week 1), Basic Patterns (Week 2), Turns and Variations (Week 3), and Social Dance Skills plus Video Day (Week 4). New sessions start on set dates throughout the year: May 4, June 1, July 6, and August 3, 2026. Group classes focus on moves actually danced in local bars and dance halls like the Broken Spoke, White Horse, and Mavericks.

Private lessons offer personalized one-on-one coaching. A free 30-minute intro session helps match you with an instructor suited to your goals. Lessons are valid for 6 months from purchase. The studio also hosts regular social dances and parties, including Newcomer Nights every Friday (teaching two different styles each week, ending with a mini social dance), monthly West Coast Swing Dance Parties, and a Ballroom Social in collaboration with Austin Ballroom Dancers.

The studio offers wedding packages in Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers, ranging from simple first-dance steps to fully choreographed performances. Event rentals are available: the Classroom (35' × 17') at $65/hour, Main Ballroom (59' × 30') at $200/hour, or the Entire Studio (4,600 sq. ft.) at $300/hour. Practice space is available for $25 per day or $60 per month.
