You can study International Ballroom (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep), International Latin (Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive), American Rhythm (Cha Cha, American Rumba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo), and American Smooth (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz). The studio also teaches Disco, Two-Step, and Salsa. Instruction is tailored to your level: beginners learn the basics of partner dancing, while intermediate and advanced dancers work on figures and patterns in Bronze, Silver and Gold syllabus.
Boston Ballroom specializes in wedding dance lessons, winning The Knot Best of Weddings 2025 for Wedding Dance Lessons in the Boston area. They choreograph first dances, parent dances, bridal party dances, groomsmen dances, father-daughter dances, mother-son dances, and cultural dances. During lessons a practice wedding skirt is provided to simulate the movement of your wedding dress. Most couples start 3–6 months before their wedding, though the studio can help with shorter timelines. Couples can bring their wedding shoes to practice in. Music editing is complimentary with 5 or more lessons, or costs $95 separately.
The studio runs monthly ballroom and Latin social dance parties where you can practice with other students. For competitive dancers, Boston Ballroom offers DanceSport training and Pro-Am coaching where professional instructors dance as your partner at competitions. They coach amateur couples competing in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Open levels across all styles.
Children aged 5 and up can take private lessons and group classes. Kids can perform in the annual studio dance showcase and prepare for local dance competitions. Online lessons via Zoom are available for those who prefer to learn from home. Group private lessons are available for families, friends or co-workers.

Your first visit
Your first visit starts with a 45-minute introductory private dance lesson tailored to give you a taste of ballroom dancing. You'll dance with your instructor, who will assess your level and goals. Beginners learn the basics of partner dancing; if you have experience, you'll work on figures and patterns. The lesson happens in a private studio, and videos are recorded on your phone so you can study and practice afterwards.

What to bring
Comfortable clothing and shoes that allow for movement. Wedding shoes can be worn to practice, or something similar to what you'll wear on the day. Sneakers, crocs and flip-flops are restrictive. Men can wear dress shoes or office shoes; women can choose heels, flats or wedges. You may also dance in socks. On rainy or snowy days, bring dance shoes to change into at the studio to keep floors dry.
