About this studio
CareToDance is an adult social dance studio in Rozelle, Sydney's Inner West, founded in 2014. The studio teaches more than 30 Ballroom and Latin dance styles including Salsa, Bachata, Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Mambo, Merengue, Bolero, Viennese Waltz, Argentine Tango and Hustle & Disco. Almost all students arrive as complete beginners, many feeling nervous before their first lesson.
The teaching approach centres on what CareToDance calls the CareToDance Method: personalised programs built around each student's goals, confidence level, learning style, schedule and pace. Rather than generic packages, every new student begins with a Planning Session to understand their objectives. Private lessons form the foundation, with group classes designed as guided practice at matched levels. Lessons are one-on-one or small group, never crowded rooms with steps called from the front. The studio also offers Wedding Dance lessons, where couples develop a choreographed first dance tailored to their song and vision, with 6–12 months before the wedding recommended.
The studio operates Monday to Friday from 12:50pm to 8:55pm, and Saturday by VIP and private appointment. Sunday is closed. The first private session is free; the studio keeps only 8 introductory sessions free each month. Beyond lessons, CareToDance runs social events and themed parties — including events at venues such as Sydney Aquarium, Taronga Zoo and La Montage — where students can practise their new skills and meet other dancers. The studio itself is described as premium but welcoming, with a lounge where you can relax with coffee or tea before and after lessons.
Founded by Cristian Basescu, who trained in Romania and Italy and competed in international championships before arriving in Australia, the studio was created to fill a gap: a place where adults could learn properly, feel comfortable, join a community and dance without feeling judged or intimidated. Instructors are industry-recognised and accredited professionals, fully trained in the CareToDance Method. The studio has generated strong student testimonials, with one student reporting losing 50kg through dancing at the studio.
What to expect
Your first visit
Your first private session is free and consists of a relaxed mix of conversation, a little dancing and a personalised plan. You don't need to know how to dance, and you don't need a partner. The staff will make you feel welcomed and at home, offering drinks before your lesson.

Instructors are industry-recognised and accredited professionals, carefully selected and trained in the CareToDance Method. Founder Cristian Basescu trained for over twenty years in Italy, competing almost every weekend and winning Italian and European championship titles, before coaching and mentoring dance professionals and studio owners across Australia. He has also judged, appeared on Dancing with the Stars, and coached Married at First Sight participants.

CareToDance was founded in 2014 by Cristian Basescu, whose dancing life began as a child in Romania and became a calling in Italy, where he trained like an athlete — often four or more hours a day for over twenty years — competing almost every weekend. He won Italian and European championship titles, competed internationally, appeared on Dancing with the Stars, and coached and judged dance professionals and studio owners across Australia. When Cristian arrived in Australia, he saw a gap in the market: there was no premium, personalised social dance experience made for adults. CareToDance was created to be that place.
