Connection Tango

Connection Tango is run by Lindsey Zan and Ricardo Correa, who formed their partnership in 2018 and bring over two decades of combined experience in Argentine Tango. They teach weekly group classes across two Austin locations: Wednesdays at Rhythm House Studio (4622 S Lamar Blvd) and Fridays at Austin Uptown Studio (8868 Research Blvd #706). Their approach blends meticulous Argentine tango technique with a focus on deep connection, joyful improvisation, and total care for your partner.

Lindsey trained in classical ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern, lyrical, pom, and high-kick before discovering partner dancing in San Diego in 2011. She studied west coast swing, salsa, rumba, east coast swing, lindy hop, blues, foxtrot, and waltz before falling in love with Argentine Tango while living in New Orleans. She holds an M.S. in psychology, which informs her teaching approach and ability to tailor classes to individual learning styles.

Ricardo's dance journey began in fourth grade as part of his home state's folk dance troupe in Durango, Mexico. He earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, which he practiced and taught for over a decade, and studied classical ballet, other martial arts styles, and wrestling. He holds a Ph.D in physics and has taught tango and martial arts for many years, bringing a deep understanding of human movement and partner connection to his instruction.

They have taught and performed in Buenos Aires, Taipei and Taichung (Taiwan), Cancun, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, New Orleans, Tucson, and all major cities in Texas. Group classes are structured by level: Tango Fundamentals welcomes absolute beginners and advanced dancers alike, Intermediate Tango builds on 6 months to 6 years of experience, and Advanced Tango serves dancers from 2 years of experience to decades. Each class includes attention tailored to your personal needs and expertise.

Connection Tango runs two regular prácticas (social dance sessions): Mini-Práctica on Wednesday evenings (free with any Wednesday class, or $5 standalone) and Práctica Buena Onda on Friday evenings (8:30–10:00 PM, $10 or $5 with any Friday class). They also host Milonga Conexión on the 3rd Saturday of every month (7–10 PM) at Austin Uptown Studio, a formal social tango event where wine and snacks are provided. Private lessons are available at their 300 sq-ft home studio in Brushy Creek (North Austin), which features mirrors and a wooden floor, or at other dance studios in the Austin area.

Classes are structured by level and taught with personal attention to match your expertise. Fridays and Wednesdays both offer beginner-friendly Tango Fundamentals classes alongside intermediate and advanced options, followed by relaxed social dancing (práctica). Milongas on the third Saturday of each month are formal social events with wine and snacks for a full evening of tango.

Lindsey Zan brings over a decade of dance teaching experience across multiple styles and a psychology degree that informs her personalized approach to instruction. Ricardo Correa holds a Ph.D in physics and has taught tango and martial arts for many years, bringing deep expertise in movement and partner connection.

Tango Fundamentals classes welcome absolute beginners regardless of prior Argentine Tango experience and receive personal attention matched to their level.
