Corrientes Tango movement & Culture GmbH

Corrientes is a cultural venue dedicated to Argentine tango, operating for 15 years in Basel. The business runs as both a teaching and social dance space, organizing its own tango events while also renting its two venues — Corrientes and Caminito — to other promoters hosting salsa, bachata, kizomba and swing nights. Both spaces come with technical support and a bar service.

The heart of Corrientes is the Tango – Förderverein Corrientes, a non-profit association dedicated to supporting and developing open tango culture in the city. The association is run by individual and collective members who share the mission of promoting Argentine tango through their own events and community initiatives. Unlike a commercial studio, the Förderverein operates on a non-profit, non-commercial basis — membership contributions support the organization's work rather than shareholder returns.

The venues are available to rent during times not booked for scheduled events, making them flexible spaces for private bookings and events. A calendar of current tango courses and milonga dates is maintained and regularly updated. The business runs year-round with no summer break, keeping the tango calendar active throughout the year.
