About this studio

Cosy Club is a hybrid cultural space at 202 Rue André Philip in Lyon's 69003 district. It hosts the activities of Shall We Swing: weekly dance and yoga classes, workshops, social dance events, coworking sessions, and private or custom events.

The studio teaches swing dance and yoga year-round. Swing styles include Lindy Hop (beginner, intermediate and advanced levels), Charleston Solo (beginner and intermediate), and Blues. Yoga offerings include vinyasa flow and inversions work, available at all levels. Most classes run in French, though English-language classes are offered in some time slots. Teachers speak French and English; some also speak Spanish, Russian or Portuguese.

A typical class follows a consistent structure: warm-up (for instance using solo Charleston movements or a game), targeted exercises around a movement or theme, and free practice set to music. The year is structured as 32 classes running September to June. Intermediate and advanced dancers work on consolidating foundations, learning new movements and variations, plus thematic sessions on musicality, dips and tricks, and fast Lindy Hop. Beginner dancers focus on the basics—8-time, 6-time and Charleston—and can dance confidently at social events after the programme.

The schedule includes Monday Charleston Solo (intermediate) at 12:30 and 18:30, Lindy Hop beginner at 19:30 and advanced at 20:30; Tuesday Yoga at 18:00 and 18:30, Lindy Hop beginner at 19:00 and Lead & Follow intermediate at 20:30; Wednesday Charleston Solo (beginner, English-taught) at 18:00, Lindy Hop beginner (English) at 19:00 and intermediate 2 (English) at 20:30; Thursday Yoga at 12:30 and 18:00, Lindy Hop beginner at 19:00 and Blues at 20:30; Friday Yoga at 12:30 and Yoga Inversions at 18:30.

You can attend alone—no partner required. For pair dances, signing up with someone of the opposite role guarantees placement, or you can mark "no preference" on role. Free trial classes are available at enrolment through 31 October, in courses with remaining spaces; from 1 November trials cost €10. The studio also runs workshops, stages and regular social dance events. Video recaps of weekly classes are available to current students. If you miss a class, you can catch up via the recaps or make up the session. Courses run on a full-year subscription model; the studio discourages occasional attendance to weekly classes, but stages and social events suit people who can only drop in.
