About this studio
D&S Ballroom Dance is run by Dmitry Barov and Sarina Wright, an awarded Latin Ballroom Dance duo with over two decades of Dancesport experience. Dmitry Barov is a distinguished professional Latin American dancer with over 24 years of experience, born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and raised in Berlin, Germany, where he began his dance journey at the young age of nine at the esteemed Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin. Sarina Wright is an esteemed professional dancer and instructor, currently competing in the Professional Latin American division and representing the USA alongside her partner. Together they have competed around the globe and trained under revered coaches in the industry.
The studio teaches a wide variety of dances from International and American styles (Cha-Cha, Samba, Waltz, Tango, Swing) as well as social dances (Salsa, Merengue, Bachata). All lessons are tailored to fit your personal goals. You can take private lessons as a couple or as an individual—if you don't have a partner, your instructor becomes your dance partner, which the studio says significantly accelerates your progress. The greatest benefit of dancing with a professional partner is that you will quickly pick up the pace and rhythm of the dance and learn to lead or follow much faster.
The studio caters to individuals of all ages and all levels: beginners and social dancers, those with competitive aspirations, and couples preparing for their First Dance. If you want to compete, training becomes more challenging and demanding in an encouraging way. If you just want to have fun and enjoy moving to music with a partner, the studio won't overcomplicate things. The studio's goal is to help you understand your body better, feel comfortable in it, and most importantly, have fun.
D&S Ballroom Dance offers several specialized programmes. Competitive (Pro/Am) lets you feel the thrill and luxury atmosphere of ballroom dance competitions with your dance instructor as your partner. Wedding Dance lessons provide fully individualized instruction to prepare your First Dance. Social Dance classes are for those invited to dance but unsure how, or those who already attend ballroom parties and want to polish their skills. The Kids Ballroom Dance Program covers Latin American dance styles including Cha-Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, and Jive, designed to develop foundational techniques, self-expression, musicality, motor skills, coordination, balance, and social skills in a fun, age-appropriate environment.
The studio also offers Dance Shows: they can perform at your birthday party, anniversary, wedding or special event, with packages ranging between 2 & 5 dance numbers with an optional group class or workshop. Classes are held at DanceLife Florida Dance Center, located at 26251 S Tamiami Trail, Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
