About this studio
Dance Alday Ballroom & Latin Studio is located at the Shoppes of Veranda in Ponte Vedra Beach, at the back courtyard next to Meridian Fitness. The studio teaches ballroom, Latin, smooth, and rhythm dances with over 50 years of combined teaching experience among its instructors. They work with students at all levels — from people taking their first steps to competitive dancers training for championships.
The dances taught include ballroom styles (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quick Step, Peabody), Latin and rhythm dances (ChaCha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo, Salsa, Merengue, Hustle, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, West Coast Swing, Bachata), and country and western dances (Two Step, Country Waltz, ChaCha, Polka, and line dancing). The studio also specializes in wedding dance instruction.
Private lessons form the foundation of their teaching system. According to the studio, private lessons relieve the stress of having to perform while learning and are particularly important for beginning dancers and those leading. Group classes are available right before practice parties and offer a chance to dance with fellow members and instructors while switching partners. The studio also hosts practice parties once or twice a month, described as a controlled and friendly setting where dancers gain confidence and make new friends.
Allan Alday is the owner and a dance specialist. He moved to Jacksonville in 1982, started his professional dancing career in 1991, and became a franchise owner in 2001, renaming the studio Dance Alday. He has won numerous awards including Pro Rising Star in American Rhythm, and currently competes throughout the United States with students in Pro-Am divisions. His accomplishments include United States Ballroom Championship Regional Series Top Teacher Grand Finalist, World Master Pro-Am Champion in Smooth, Rhythm, Latin, and Standard, and two-time winner of First Coast Dancing With The Stars.
Megan Wallace specializes in Latin and Salsa and has over 13 years of teaching experience. She graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Exercise Science and has performed and competed in major cities including Manhattan, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Miami. She has helped wedding couples with their dance goals.
Melissa Lilavois started ballet and tap dancing at an early age in Daytona Beach and holds a degree in Psychology from the University of North Florida. She has recently returned to teaching ballroom and Latin dancing.

Your first visit
Whether you're coming alone or with a partner, social or competitive, you will work with experienced instructors who guide you from your first step towards becoming a confident dancer. Private lessons are the starting point, followed by group classes that run before practice parties, where you'll dance with fellow members.
