About this studio

Dance Junxion is a boutique dance studio in Bryanston, Johannesburg, owned by Tony and Marda, who previously ran South Africa's flagship Fred Astaire Studio in Randburg from 1989 to 2006. They originally established The Dance Junxion (then called The Dance Warehouse) in the Mall of Rosebank in 2003. After selling both studios in 2006 and later running the Rosebank location again until 2012, they moved to Coachman's Crossing Venue for five years before realising their dream of building their own exclusive boutique studio at 23 Nancy Drive, Klevehill Park, Bryanston.

The studio specialises in Ballroom and Latin dancing and is one of a few to specialise in Argentine Tango. They teach all levels from beginner to advanced, with international competitive credentials: they placed second in the world at the Argentine Tango World Festival in Argentina (2007) and have competed at international open championships including Paris, France (2017) and Florida, USA (2016). Tony and Marda are affiliated with both the South African Dance Federation (SADF) and the South African Dance Teachers Association (SADTA), teaching American and International competitive styles.

Group classes run Monday to Friday between 13h00 and 22h00, covering Latin & Ballroom (Mondays 19:30–20:30), Argentine Tango (Wednesdays 19:00–20:00), Salsa (Thursdays 19:30–20:30), Teen Dance (Fridays 16:30–17:30), and Kizomba & Batchata (Fridays 18:30–19:30). Line Dancing runs Wednesdays 18:00–19:00. Private lessons are available Monday to Saturday from 08h30 to 22h30. The studio also runs a monthly milonga (Argentine Tango practice session) on Wednesdays; entry is R100 per person, but free for anyone taking a Tango group class.

Beyond group and private lessons, Dance Junxion offers wedding dance preparation classes, Friday social dancing events every alternate Friday, family fun dance classes, high school projects, kids and teens classes, team building activities, and corporate entertainment. The studio also presents workshops; they recently conducted an Argentine Tango workshop in Zambia (2018). The venue is available for hire for kiddies parties (with access to a swimming pool and trampoline), small corporate functions, rehearsals, and other events. A small coffee station offers tea, coffee, and hot chocolate for R10 per mug.
