About this studio
Escape Gravity is a dance and fitness studio in Table View, Bloubergstrand, close to Cape Town's beachfront. The studio specialises in pole dancing, lyra, and aerial movement, with classes designed for all ages, shapes and sizes.
Pole classes run across five levels: Beginners 1 & 2, Intermediate 1 & 2, and Advanced. Each class lasts an hour and follows an in-house syllabus of pole tricks and spins. At the end of each of the four terms per year, the studio holds a graduation where students ready to progress move into their next level, based on their instructor's assessment. The studio also offers Stretch & Conditioning (to help condition the body for pole, lyra and dance), Pole Flow (a choreographed dance class with sensual flow elements), and Pole Beginner Heels, a skill-building class for dancers exploring movement in heels with targeted conditioning.
Lyra classes run twice a week at mixed beginner and intermediate level, with 4 lyras available in the studio, meaning 4 students per class. Classes are booked through the Fit by Wix app, with packages invoiced in advance and valid for one month from when units are loaded.
The studio runs pole parties for bachelorettes, birthdays, team building events and girls' nights out. Each party includes a 15-minute meet and greet, one hour of pole dance instruction from qualified instructors, and 15 minutes of socialising and photos. Pricing is R1000 for up to 5 people, R1400 for up to 8, and R1800 for up to 16.
Instructors are certified and experienced in their divisions. The studio is available for hire by the hour (R100 for members, R200 for non-members).
