Fire and Ice Studios is a Latin dance studio and creative space in Atlanta's industrial district. The studio offers over 50 weekly classes across multiple styles: Salsa On2, Bachata (Modern, Traditional, and Sensual), Zouk, AfroMambo, Cha-Cha-Chá, and Contemporary. Classes run Monday to Friday from 6:30pm to 10pm, with Saturday morning sessions including Stretch & Fit, Body Movement & Mechanics, and beginner levels. The space comprises multiple rooms—a large room for main classes, a medium room, and a smaller space—each equipped to accommodate different group sizes and teaching needs.
The studio was built on foundations laid by Fuego y Hielo Dance Company, a community-driven Latin dance project. The name and philosophy reflect a teaching approach that balances fire (raw energy, passion, intensity) with ice (precision, control, confidence). Founder and Artistic Director Fuquan Ferrell brings over a decade of expertise in Salsa On2, Bachata, and performance choreography, emphasizing musicality, body alignment, and authentic expression in his teaching.
Instructors include Fuquan Ferrell (Salsa On2, Bachata, Performance), Maleah King, Shailey Wetmore, Candace Joyner (Salsa On2, Footwork, Partnering), Andriy Yavorsky (Salsa On2, Technique, Beginner Development), Gordon Neil (Afro-Mambo, Afro-Caribbean Dance Fusion), and Jeramie & Alyssa (Zouk). The studio maintains a community of over 500 active dancers with a 4.9 average rating and more than 15 expert instructors.
Beyond classes, Fire and Ice Studios functions as a creative space supporting photography, cinematography, rehearsals, and events. The studio hosts regular social events including Reverb & Vibe (a rooftop salsa and bachata party held the 1st Sunday of each month at Reverb Hotel Downtown), Mambo Mayhem (the 3rd Saturday of each month, 9:30pm–2:30am, with live DJs across three rooms), and Obscuro, Atlanta's premier 3-day Latin dance festival now in its 5th edition (July 16–19, 2027), featuring 15+ world-class artists, workshops, performances, and social dancing. The studio also offers private lessons, studio rentals for choreography and events, and memberships.
What to expect
Your first visit
Drop into a class at any level—Beginner, Intermediate, or All Levels—with no experience required. Classes are 50 minutes to 1 hour. You'll work with an instructor and other dancers in one of three rooms, focusing on technique, musicality, footwork, partnering, or body mechanics depending on the class. Bring your energy and a partner for partnered styles like Salsa, Bachata, and Zouk.
