Fortino is a century-old sports facility that has reinvented itself as a hub for dance and movement in central Turin. The venue was founded in 1906 as a bocce and pallone centre, and has been run by ASD Fortino since 1922. After years of decline, it was revived in 2016 through a partnership between ASD Fortino and La Bicicleta, who undertook major renovations: new walls, lighting, sound system and acoustic panels.
The heart of the space is a 400 square-metre sprung dance floor made from birch plywood installed on a floating wooden frame. This surface is designed to absorb impact while maintaining responsiveness, and the wood has been treated with fire-resistant varnish. The floor supports tango, swing, lindy hop, pilates, yoga, martial arts and meditation classes.
Fortino teaches tango through ForTango School, described as the tango school that connects Turin's heart to the rest of the world. The venue also runs tango milongas and marathons. Lindy hop and swing classes draw on the jazz-swing music of the 1930s and '40s. General fitness classes (ginnastica) are offered alongside these styles. The facility also hosts pickleball and is home to the BocciAbili Turin para-bocce team.
The space is available for workshops and practice days in the disciplines taught there. Fortino hosts national and international competitions—it held the World Master Games in 2013. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9:30–18:00, and appointments are necessary.

Studio history
Fortino began in 1906 as a bocce and pallone sports centre and has been managed by ASD Fortino since 1922. The facility hosted high-level national and international competitions, including the World Master Games in 2013, but fell into decline around 2015–2016. In 2016, ASD Fortino and La Bicicleta partnered to restore the space, installing new walls, lighting, a sound system, acoustic panels and a new 400-square-metre birch sprung floor.
