The studio was founded in 1947 by Fred Astaire himself, who developed a proven curriculum embodying fundamental principles of good dancing. The studio teaches a full range of ballroom styles including Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Mambo, Salsa, Jive, East Coast Swing, Hustle, Bolero, Merengue, Paso Doble, Argentine Tango, and West Coast Swing. Instruction is available in both American and International Ballroom styles, as well as exhibition and theater arts dances for social and competitive dancers.
The teaching approach uses a three-part system: private lessons tailored to your personal needs, group classes that cover a variety of dances and topics, and practice sessions held in a party atmosphere where you apply what you've learned in a low-pressure social setting. Private lessons are by appointment; group classes run afternoons and evenings throughout the week. The studio serves the Dallas-Fort Worth area and neighbouring communities including Benbrook, Crowley, Burleson, Mansfield, and Arlington.
The studio specializes in wedding dance programmes, offering everything from simple first dances to fully choreographed routines for the entire wedding party. They recommend starting lessons at least five to six months before your wedding. The studio also supports competitive dancers through Fred Astaire's branded Regional, Inter-Regional, National and International Pro-Am and Professional dance competitions.
New students can take advantage of an introductory offer of two 30-minute private sessions for $99. The studio emphasizes a welcoming, non-judgmental atmosphere and welcomes both singles and couples—if you come alone, your instructor will be your partner for private lessons, and group classes provide chances to meet other students.
